PLEASE HELP! I saved a doent to my computer and I could nto find it even though I used the search option?

PLEASE HELP! I saved a doent to my computer and I could nto find it even though I used the search option. Then when I went to try to rename my doent by using the "save as" option and low and behold my freaking doent file name was in there but it was in some obscure file that even my computer could not find when I used the search option! What the hell is going on? I had to redo my work this evening because the same thing happened earlier although I never found the original doent...AHHHH! Please help to fix or at least understand what is going on with my computer!
