Should this ******** stay or go?

I have 4 children; three of whom are my partners kids. For the past 16 years he's been a weekend alcoholic who binge drinks and disappears for days at a time. His kids adore him and can see no wrong and my eldest can see and doesn't want him in the house because he's made her life miserable for years. After repeated attempts to get him off drink and years of promises I've come to a crossroads and don't know which way to go. Do I stay with him because his kids adore him and he's good to them (throughout the week) or do I get rid of him because my eldest can't stand having him here with all the fighting and I can't deal with his problem. My eldest hates how he treats me and his son is starting to mimick his lack of respect for women. Should this alcoholic stay or go for the sake of all our happiness?
