Products to use for bed head hairstyle?

I was wondering what products to use for the bedhead hairstyle? I went to Toni & Guy the girl really layered my hair and textured it. She put some stuff in my hair and it looked really good but I can;t remember what it was. My hair is about two inches long. It is a cross between asian hair and white hair. It is extremely thick and straight. What product(s) should I use. I have tried Redken clay stuff and American crew fibre paste. Both of those are really thick. I don't know if I am using them right or not. I mage it through my hands then apply it. As soon as I put my hands on my head it clumps my hair and it looks funny. I apply this when my hair is dry.
